Hello!
If you are experiencing problems with Opera segfaulting since last system update (2007-04-04) looking something like:

Do this: Downgrade the package libx11 from version 1.1.1-4 to 1.1.1-3 and Opera will work again.
Kept a mirror for you here: http://adiza.nexticom.net/files/package … pkg.tar.gz

Thanks for the tip - your mirror seems to be down though - you can get the package here:

Alternatively you can build the package from abs and remove the line that applies the patch.

Thanks, problem actually solved.

It's a nullpointer dereference in opera. Either the input validation in libx11 is too strict, or opera does wrong things and doesn't check for any failure. As Opera is the only application that crashes, and given the fact that there's no possible way to debug their big fat static binary without debug information, I blame opera for this bug and wait with fixing libx11 until either the Xorg team comes with a fix or Opera comes with proof that it's not something wrong in their browser.
The patch we applied is a security fix that fixes security issues possible with many applications.

It does work, but it crashes like hell after that "hotfix". Surely enough they will come out with something better.

Anyone needing an arch pkg for Opera - Version 9.20- development ... can find it here:
http://linuxgangster.org/Theoden/opera- … pkg.tar.gz
This solves the segfault problem of 9.10 created by the upgrade of libx11.

Thanks Theoden, working fine here
I was using the static opera from community, but also had the crash error...
This package is solving it for me.

Build 936 was released today. It is more stable than 935 I think..

I upgraded my libx11 to 1.1.4 again, installed Opera 9.20, but a few minutes later Opera bailed out when i tried to look up something in the search tool through the search tool at the top right... Fire up Opera again, it bails out again. Loads of fun.
I'll wait untill 9.2 hits stable i guess
BTW did anybody notice they seem to have made Yahoo! their default search engine? I mean wth??

I used your package . Thanks for the effort, but it's not working over here.
