Re: hey tor, how are you ?

is there any particular reason u posted that in Arch Discussion forum?
also besides flagging a package out of date theres really not much u can do unless its an essetial or widely used one and new version provides important bugfixes. in the case its neither. use abs to build it and stop bitching plz

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

@dolby:

you could have directed him nicely to flag the package outdated. the one who needs to stop bitching here is not him. he simply made a honest mistake. please don't turn those forums to a gentoo-like place...

Re: hey tor, how are you ?

Well, i have no idea how gentoo-like place looks like, but the package had been flagged out of date already, plus the title of the topic is.. well u can see for yourself.
Additionally imho my answer was not aggresive but gave the actual solution to the question and covered all options a) what to do if a maintainer delays to update a pkg and the user needs to use it (abs) and also b) also to flag it out of date if that hadnt been done already.
Last but not least i did say please... if one word makes it look offensive that wasnt my intention

Re: hey tor, how are you ?

1. The forums are not a high-visibilty place to get developers' attention. For the future: flag the package, if it's already flagged and it's been a while try emailing the maintainer directly or catching them or irc or jabber, if you still get nothing your best bet is trying another developer or the mailing list since more devs read the list than the forums...though that sort of broadcast message should be the last resort so to speak.

2. I smell gasoline in this thread, I'm going to lock it before someone lights a match.

full disclosure: I maintain tor and I've been busy with everything besides arch, that's why it isnt updated yet, I'll get to it..eventually.

PS: this is post 666... *devil eyes*
