Re: arch stops during booting-process

Had the same issue last night on some PXE/NFS clients I use after upgrade.

I finally ended up manually re-installing mkinitcpio (pacman -S mkinitpcio), remade my initramfs, and the machines worked again.

I have no idea why this may have remedied my problem, but I'm guessing incompatibilities between udev in the initramfs and the real root?

Re: arch stops during booting-process

if you're running the stock arch-kernel, as root:

# mkinitcpio -p kernel26

Stand back, intruder, or i'll blast you out of space! I am Klixon and I don't want any dealings with you human lifeforms. I'm a cyborg!

Re: arch stops during booting-process

adding load_modules=off as a boot param gets past this, but you have to load modules manually then.

Re: arch stops during booting-process

Just blacklist the module intel_agp and everything works fine...
intel_agp freezes with 4 GB Ram...

Re: arch stops during booting-process

You might be able to boot off the install disk and get to the command prompt. Instead of running setup, type "dmesg | more" and see if you can find what module is loading when the ethernet card starts.

You might also type "lsmod | more" and be able to find the name of the module to load in your rc.conf file.
