Community64 request page

Hi everyone,

This thread has been started so that people can request for a specific package which is missing from community64, but present in community32. I'd like to port frequently used packages first to serve the community better, rather than port things like orphans and other seldom used packages. So if you make a request here, l'll  try to compile it and push it to community 64.

We'll hopefully change the community64 landscape in the coming weeks with more people involved with x86_64, so hold on !

Re: Community64 request page

Well, I recently started building my own x86_64 packages from the 32bit ABS tree, and I'm not really sure I would request any at this point (from the ones I have built at least). They aren't really that important. However, if others show interest, two that wouldn't hurt would be:

gtk-rezlooks-engine
transmission

If I come across any other important ones, I will post them. This is a very good idea though. big_smile

Re: Community64 request page

(looking in my /var/abs/local ...)
well, transmission. darn, already done. smile
the other ones are mainly lib32 packages (namely: lib32-glib, lib32-gtk, lib32-gtkglext, lib32-libglade, lib32-libxml2, bin32-wine), so they don't count.

anyway, thanks ganja_guru.

Re: Community64 request page

@lloeki: I asked Neverth to continue to maintain the lib32 packages. Perhaps you contact him if there are any updates needed.

Re: Community64 request page

We (well, *I* but other may appreciate) would need the lib32 version of libsigc++ since the newest skype (they did not forgot the linux version!) needs it...

I tried to compile it myself, but the other PKGBUILD for the lib32 packages just download the file and install it... :S

Re: Community64 request page

thanks pierre, I'll do that in due time.

ezzetabi,

I tried to compile it myself

you can't cross-compile to 32 bit from 64bit. to compile it manually as 32bit, set up a chroot. from there it's like a 32bit arch.

but the other PKGBUILD for the lib32 packages just download the file and install it...

since there's no cross-compiling, all lib32 do that: they fetch the matching arch32 package and repackage it so as to be placed in /opt. if the arch32 libsigc++ is up to date, then just change version numbers accordingly in the lib32 pkgbuild smile

look at any lib32-* PKGBUILD. It is very simple template. Just replace program and version.

There's a request for virtualbox-ose to make it community, so I'll work on that next.

I desperately need any working NX client. Best surely it's nomachine's but I believe there is not much hope here.

old 2.x client from NoMachine should run in 32bit chroot or with lib32 support. i'll try their 3.x versions soon. Not sure if their client is still ELF32.

Re: Community64 request page

ttf-liberation. It has arch=('i686' 'x86_64') but is not available in community repository. In CVS it doesn't have CURRENT-64 tag at all.
Actually it was better when it was in AUR in unsupported section wink

wxmaxima uploaded. bad news about virtualbox though, virtualbox-ose does not compile on x86_64 (yet), and were not allowed to package the x86_64 binaries due to licensing issues.

Thanks for the support of my request for an NX client.
The problem has been solved by Nomachine's latest version of NXclient 3.0 which is available for 86_64
