Strange Printer errors

Hello

I got an Epson AcuLaser 1100C connected to my pc's printer port. I've downloaded all required programs from the repository as well as the driver from EPSON home page(don't exist on the LinuxPrinting site.).

After I installed driver, connected printer and tried print a few times cups complained about foomatic-rip was not working. I retested with 'debug' in cupsd.conf and from that I found out that it couldnt find 'strict.pm', and stopped foomatic.rip.

I decided to reinstall perl with 'pacman -S perl' just to be sure nothing was missing..... and after that it worked(yay). Both me and my wife have printed out a few papers, pictures and so on during a few days last week.

BUT.. Today I tried to print again and it failed sad I tried print from cups admin, Firefox and from my wife's pc and so on but nothing worked, while the printer complained about 'garbled data' so bad I had to reset the printer.

After adding debug in cupsd.conf again I noticed that THE SAME error had returned... I've not upgraded or added anything regarding perl(added adesklets only)from the repositories at all since the print system worked. I'd be very grateful if anyone have any tips on how to discover why cups loose the ability to find strict.pm

Thanks in advance.

Below is a cut of the output, if it helps in any way.

Re: Strange Printer errors

Hi!

I got the same error. Try to reinstall perl with pacman -S perl and say Yes! That solved it for me...

Acker

Thanks.

I did reinstall perl as described in my post above. The strangeness is that a while AFTER the re installation my problems came back and I had to reinstall perl again(and once again it worked... Thing is I don't really feel comfortable reinstalling perl each time this error occurs).

Will probably try it further soonish, atm my printer(And all the furniture in that room) is covered with plastic(couldn't resist buying those nice wallpapers I saw, will make 'work room' look nifty) smile

Funky, huh? smile
