electricsheep screensaver: "Cannot find xv port" (solved)

I have a slight problem running the electricsheep screensaver. It doesn't work fullscreen (it shows the screensaver in a small centered box with a black background) and gives the error "cannot find xv port" in the upperleft corner of the screen.
I have a ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300] graphics card and direct rendering seems to work fine.

xine-check is a good tool to see if your display has good xv support. or try playing videos with the xv driver. the last time i used electricsheep, it was playing a downloaded video. maybe there's some mplayer/xine options you can apply to it.

Re: electricsheep screensaver: "Cannot find xv port" (solved)

[ hint ] Your X server doesn't have any XVideo support...
XVideo is an X server extension introduced by XFree86 4.x. This
extension provides access to hardware accelerated color space
conversion and scaling, which gives a great performance boost.
If you have a fast (>1GHz) machine, you may be able to watch all
kinds of video, anyway. You will waste lots of CPU cycles, though...
         press <enter> to continue...

I have libxv installed, so that shouldn't be the problem.... but what is the problem? Perhaps my ATI card ([Mobility Radeon X300) doesn't support it?

Looking at xorg.conf:

Option "NoXVideo"

Disables the XVideo support. Default: XVideo support is enabled.

I'm not using that option, so I'm guessing with libxv installed and this option not in xorg.conf, it *should* work unless unsupported by my ATI card.

Re: electricsheep screensaver: "Cannot find xv port" (solved)

After a little more Googling, I found the solution here
Simply add

Option "TexturedVideo" "on"

to the fglrx device section of xorg.conf en xv is enabled (for my card).
xvinfo now gives output in stead of "no adaptors present". That got rid of the xv error.

Now, the screensaver still was not full-screen. After reading the man-page, I added "--zoom 1" to the startup options in xscreensaver and that gave me fullscreen.
