well I got a 300mhz 96 mb laptop, guess u all talked me into trying it out for myself. give me a reason to just install a simple WM.

No problem.

I wouldn't mind trying a static /dev, but I think udev would still be needed for hotpluggable devices... hmm

While 'acpi=off' saves me some boot time, I just don't like reaching for that power button when I halt the system. I really have grown accustomed to the machine turning off by itself.
