In no particular order!

Seconded - just when I think Arch can't get any better, I find a new surprise whilst browsing the announcements or the AUR.

These forums and the wiki are very friendly, informative and supportive - you can usually find the answer to everything in one or the other. And you've proven to me that there is such a thing as life after 'apt-get'! smile

Keep on proving you can do it better with Linux big_smile

EDIT: Not to forget: Thanks for a wonderful idea Skottish - people like me need threads like this to get off our behinds and show how much we do like Arch.

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

Using arch is a truly joyful experience for me, so I would also like to thank everyone that has made arch (the distro it's self and it's community) what it is today.

Thank you!

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

Would like to add my thanks to everyone involved in making arch what it is. I use it daily on a number of machines, and the fact that problems are few and easily resolved is testament to the hard work put in by so many.

Thanks!

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I have been searching for the "right" distribution for a long time now (about 5 years of the 24 under my belt).  I tried so many distributions I was practically swimming in CDs, and my wife told me "We don't need anymore coasters".  It was at this point I turned to Arch, and with Arch I'm staying, not only because I don't need anymore coasters, I don't want anymore either.  Of all the slogans I've read from all the distributions I've tried and hated, Arch's is the only one to be true to its roots.  To the developers, the community, and all associated with this great project - thank you.

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I can only echo everyones sentiments here. I'm finding Arch a truely fantastic distro. It's the one that brought my hopping and endless searching for that perfect distro to an abrupt halt. A great distro, a great community, great developers. Long live Arch.

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I must thank Judd and the others for Pacman & makepkg.  Honestly, the Wiki is where Arch TRULY shines over other distros.  It proves that we Archers try to know our stuff and care to set it up properly.

Heil Arch. smile

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

Just tossing my two cents in here.  I've been using Arch since 2003.  It's come a long way insofar as ease of use and configuration is concerned.  The user and membership base certainly has grown a ton!  I can remember counting on one or two hands the number of users in #archlinux.  Good job guys, and keep it up!

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I want to say my BIG THANKS to all people who created, maintain and use Arch. I really feel happy to be a part of community.

P.S. Wish I could write programms to OpenSource but I fear I have no time for studying that because of my work.
Can someone give me a hint about starting programming? I mean books, tips and advices.

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I've only been using Arch for a short time, but have been so completely impressed with every aspect of the distribution - installation, package management, package repositories, the developers, the maintainers, and the community members in the forums.  I've ping-ponged between Slackware and Gentoo for years, but now that I've found Arch, it appears there's no need to do so anymore.

With this in mind, I just hit the donation button.

Best regards.

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I second everything that has been said in this thread: Thank you.
I'm also trying to give as much back to the community as possible(both in help and code), although I don't have very much to offer (yet).

Re: The Quasi-Official Thank You Thread

I have to join in on this one.

Arch dragged me away kicking and screaming from Debian, quite a feat and no other distro has ever come close apart from Pardo (Upkg not quite up to it). Well done devs, great distro! I just wish I had tried it earlier.

As a forum Admin myself, I appreciate the time and effort put into any community by staff and members, this is a great forum!; friendly, helpful and extremely well laid out. I have been using/running forums for a few years now and have to give you all the thumbs up.

A good community is extremely important for a distro.

Thanks to all,

richs-lxh
