While using xcompmgr my conky becomes transparent and barely visible. Obviously i don't want this to happen. Solutions?

There's no solutions, this is just how xcompmgr works.

Re: Conky vs. xcompmgr [SOLVED]

Through trial and error, this finally worked for me:

own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
double_buffer yes

hi,
i've tried this, but conky flickers everytime it refreshes.
is there no way to sanely use conky w/ xcompmgr?

Try:

update_interval 1
own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_type desktop
own_window_hints undecorate,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
double_buffer yes

I know own_window_hints aren't supposed to be necessary with 'own_window_type desktop' but I left it in and it works. tongue

EDIT: Ooh, another thought... do you have the double buffer extension enabled in X? ('Load "dbe"' in the Module section of xorg.conf.)

DonVa,

I have found this to work:

double_buffer = true,
own_window_transparent = true,
own_window_argb_visual = true,

Who needs BlackArch or Kali Linux anyway, when you can build your own from Arch Linux? roll
