Pacman could not satisfy dependencies

This is the first time I've received this error and it won't let me upgrade at all.  I'm reluctant to reinstall my catalyst drivers, because they seem so finicky.  Here's the message:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: catalyst: requires kernel26<=2.6.23.9999

What do I need to do to resolve this?

Re: Pacman could not satisfy dependencies

You need to upgrade you catalyst drivers if you want to update to the latest kernel.  Not much you can do about it...

Re: Pacman could not satisfy dependencies

It won't let me, and it's saying I need an updated kernel..?

The  catalyst driver is 8.01-1 and uname -r for the kernel brings up 2.6.23-ARCH if that helps.

Edit: I get it.  It didn't want to update because catalyst is only compatible with a kernel older than 2.6.24, and I just removed it, upgraded and tried to reinstall it.

That's not the same error message at all.  In your case, you can probably just pacman -Sf kernel26 nvidia nvidia-utils

Re: Pacman could not satisfy dependencies

Now we could use kernel26<2.6.24 instead of kernel26<=2.6.23.9999.

Re: Pacman could not satisfy dependencies

Is there an issue with ATI and how they build their drivers? I seem to have an issue with catalyst/kernel everytime I go to upgrade. I'm getting this too.

2.6.24 not compatible with catalyst 8.1? I can't find anything on the driver release notes that would suggest this.
