To those with intel 3945 wifi cards

If you have the above card and have had trouble setting it up, you may need to add the file: /etc/modprobe.d/ with contents:

iwl3945
alias wlan0 iwl3945
options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1 hwcrypto=1

If you are not sure that you need to add this file then try typeing

sudo iwlist scan

this should list all your ethernet devices saying thewy do not support scanning and then after a while list your wireless network interface saying it timed out. If you dont get this but still cant use your wifi card, try adding the file and restarting to see if it helps.
Even then you might be able to connect with netcfg2 but not get access to the internet. You must use wicd or another graphical network manager to bypass this.
NOTE: Be sure that you have already installed the correct driver and configured the network interfaces in /etc/rc.conf before doing this.

Re: To those with intel 3945 wifi cards

This would be a useful wiki entry (I don't add it myself because I'm not using that method, so I want to be sure it's entered by someone who knows what's going on) smile

Re: To those with intel 3945 wifi cards

Please add some more info. Like you can use this as a solution when you don't get any (iwlist wlan0) scan results, and it complains the devices don't support scanning....
