Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

It's not working here on 64 bit with nspluginwrapper. I don't think so anyway. After 30 seconds or so of waiting for Flash to do anything is too much for me. I reverted back to the last beta and everything is working alright again.

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

I found the problem on my 64 bit system. Flash 10 RC through nspluginwrapper is looking for libcurl.so.3, and *.so.4 is installed:

*** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: libcurl.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to initialize plugin-side RPC client connection
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NP_Initialize() invoke: Connection was NULL

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

I couldn't get it to work (Arch i686) (opera or epiphany wouldn't recognize the plugin at all) at first, but this solved it.

# pacman -S curl
cd /usr/lib
# ln -s libcurl.so.4 libcurl.so.3

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

I've installed the new AUR pkgbuild and all its deps. It worked fine, without the need for a symlink.

I was using the older stuff. Sweeeeet!!! Thanks.

--EDIT--

I'm really impressed with this release. I watched this video http://www.hulu.com/hd/29275 full screen on a 24 inch wide screen monitor and the it looks and performs great. Wow.

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

When I visit this site: http://www.charges.com.br Firefox crashes. The shell:

[an@ale_note ~]$ firefox
23ba03af-ee03-fdc8-0f79aea6-31581ec7 is dumped
[an@ale_note ~]$ firefox
5a87f06c-2423-056c-0eaf751d-6364c331 is dumped
[an@ale_note ~]$

sad

If you figure out a bug send a feedback to the flash developers: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/ind … a_feedback

Edit: I figure out the element which crash Firefox. I block "charges.uol.com.br#SPAN(id=mauricio)" with adblock and the page isn't crash.

webjdm, thanks a lot for putting all the 64 bit stuff together. There's quite a few new dependencies with this release. I have almost an entire 32 bit system now on my 64 bit box for one application!

----> Like anyone cares, but I currently have 59 32 bit packages installed for Flash, Skype, Lightscribe and Lacie 4L. Most of this is for Flash. And even though this is the best Flash release by far, Adobe still sucks for not having a 64 bit client. <----

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

Well, it still has problems, though. I testing it on our website (www.gotrybe.com) and although transparency is now working, some animated things have stopped working correctly. There is a little "loading" graphic that spins circles in the flash content area while loading and these just show completely through to the blue background.  If you're curious, sign up for a test account and view either the avatar or "Today's Activities" and you;ll see what I mean. It doesn't do this with the current version of Flash (9.0.xxx).

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

Is it just me or flash gotten worse and worse since with the releases of the Flash 10 betas and now the RC? Most sites don't recognise that I have flash installed with the latest RC (from archlinux.fr repo) and I can't visit blabbermouth.net anymore (haven't been able to since the stable Flash 9). Under windows flash runs so much better, why does Adobe put a plugin for Linux when it is so buggy and crashy?

André

I checked blabbermouth.net and Flash is working fine for me. I've seen nothing but memory and performance improvements with Flash with every release. I have yet to find a page that didn't recognize Flash 10, but my Flash usage is fairly limited.

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

There definitely are a few sites that check for Version 9 specifically.

As far as performance though, flash 10 does seem to be much better.  And I'd imagine it will only get better once V10 goes final.  Then current sites will all check to make sure everything works with the latest version.

I just figured out that Adblock Plus was causing the crashes so I uninstalled it. Flash 10 RC seems pretty good at the moment.

Re: Adobe flash 10 RC released for linux

It always surprises me how the same distro can manifest different problems with the same software. AdBlock Plus causes no problems for me. nvidia.com and vuze.com are working fine. One difference that I can think of is that I'm using FlashBlock (the other greatest extension... EVER!). I've found that it helps with catching strange errors.

I reckon my flash usage is fairly limited too, which is why I'm currently using swfdec - and when it doesn't work, I just say "Meh..." and go to a sane website instead. smile
