Message: 'Connection ":1.12" is not allowed to own the service "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings" due to security policies in the configuration file'

I believe when this happened to me, the fix was adding the user to the group 'network'

That didn't help.

I managed to solve this problem by editing /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf like this:
<policy at_console="true"> <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/> <allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/> </policy>
I allready have this section in the config.

Hi, removing these lines from /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf worked for me
<policy context="default">
<deny own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/>
<deny send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/>
<deny send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"/>
</policy>
