Create "Margins" w/ Compiz-Fusion

How do I create a margin at the bottom of the screen where no windows will overlap using Compiz-Fusion? I know this must be possible - I do it with XFCE and Openbox - but I can't figure out how.  I'm guessing it's listed under some plugin but I haven't found anything.  I just want a 10px or so space for Conky and a little gap on the right so I can open a menu.

Re: Create "Margins" w/ Compiz-Fusion

I have been looking for exactly the same thing.  I switched from using LXDE with Openbox to LXDE with compiz-fusion and the only thing I am really missing is the desktop margin feature of Openbox.  Anyone have any ideas of how this might be possible?

There are several posts over on the compiz-fusion forums requesting a plugin to accomplish this, but so far, there doesn't appear to be a solution.

Any advice anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Create "Margins" w/ Compiz-Fusion

I was looking for a way to do it as well but never found anything.  In the end I just replaced conky with dzen2 in my compiz-fusion session, because for some reason compiz doesn't draw windows over dzen2 like it does over conky.

I'm having the same problem, as stated here:

Anyone figured that out?

Thanks,

Re: Create "Margins" w/ Compiz-Fusion

necro'd somewhat.

For anyone else who find this thread googling. I attempted this for a hour and got somewhat close.
Using the plugin "Windows Rules" click the "Size Rules" tab then setting this

state=maxvert & state=maxhorz & (type=NORMAL | type=FULLSCREEN)

Then setting the desired width and height will resize a maximized window to the margin.
But. once you click on something inside the window it will resize again, to the normal maximized state.
Maybe someone with a little more patience can find out why this happens and if there is a way to stop it.
