[SOLVED] firefox-branded

Ok, so when fresh to arch (still am) I like many others installed firefox without all the official branding and whatnot.  Well, after a little reading i found out there is a branded version in AUR, well, i have alredy installed yaourt so i am using to install firefox-branded.

So, I uninstalled firefox with

pacman -R firefox

Went fine and dandy, then I installed firefox-branded with

yaourt -S firefox-branded

compiled, installed, everything is great, except for that I still have the blue globe as the icon instead of the firefox icon.  When I run the program, it still uses teh real firefox icon in the task bar and also in the title bar of the browser, just not for the application launch in KDE, anyone know how to fix this?

thanks

Re: [SOLVED] firefox-branded

Your KDE icon cache probably just needs a refresh.  Not sure how to do that in KDE...

Re: [SOLVED] firefox-branded

yeah, i couldn't find how to fix it either.  However, i did find a fix.

What i did was go into KDE's system settings, then apply a different icon set, then just switch back, by doing this, i'm guessing it refreshes the icon cache and fixes it.

thanks

Re: [SOLVED] firefox-branded

Why did you want Firefox-branded?  You like looking at that Fox head on the icon enough to bother yourself with AUR?

I use firefox-branded too, I ujust prefer sites see me as using Firefox instead of Mozilla 6.0 compatible or whatever it sees it as in the regular package. Yeah IDK I just like the namer Firefox better than Gran Paradiso that's about it tongue

Re: [SOLVED] firefox-branded

It takes a lot of effort and we need to get every update, slight configuration chage, patch, etc approved by Mozilla.  This becomes more difficult given we use system libraries and with a rolling release these may require patching to firefox.  This would be a lot of effort for little reward.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox-branded

you can also get firebrand and thunderbrand from http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686/firebrand/

just add to your /etc/pacman.conf:

[archlinuxfr]
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686

and install it using pacman or yaourt
