Open a new topic from here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=55670&p=9

If i open rhytmbox in a terminal i got this:

Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unable to start mDNS browsing: MDNS-Service not running

Rhythmbox: could not connect to socket

Rhythmbox: no such file or directory

with Debugmode (rhythmbox -d )

http://www.kamprad.net/killajoe/logs/rh … -debug-log

i can not play any audiofiles because the program freeze.

Re: Rhythmbox issues since update to Gnome 2.24

Well, nearly half a year later i got the same problem. Is it a bug, or due to configuration problems??

Anyone got an answer?

Rhythmbox optionaly uses avahi auto discovery service. You have to configure avahi and mdns to get rid of the warning, but that is not a reason for freezing. Your freeze problem is strange, but the debug messages don't show anything wrong.

Well... I just added avahi to my daemons but this didn't change anything.

If I compile Rhythmbox myself, how can I disable this optional support of avahi??
