problem with pypanel and rgb

Hi all,

Been running OpenBox with pypanel for a while and everything has been running smooth, but then I updated and had to comment the rgb in xorg.conf. Now pypanel doesn't display any text or the clock, just the icons.

What can I do in order to get the text and clock back?

Re: problem with pypanel and rgb

Will need more info to help, I think. wink What video driver do you use and what font are you using in your .pypanelrc?  My pypanel is still working fine on three different computers??

I'm using the nvidia-96xx. Below's my complete .pypanelrc. Using the bitstream-vera font and it has work before the update of X.

Re: problem with pypanel and rgb

hmm Hmmmm..... that's funny, I use nvidia-96xx too, on my desktop, but use dejavu sans-9 for a font and it's working fine.  I don't see anything obvious in your .pypanelrc.  Maybe someone else will see something.

Edit: I just switched to xf86-video-nv and the nv video driver in xorg.conf because fonts in wine apps were weird looking but pypanel was fine before the switch.  Maybe try nv driver just for troubleshooting purposes.  I'll be switching back to nvidia-96xx once I have more time--or less procrastination-- to figure out the fonts in wine.

Edit: This forum is great! big_smile I'm back to nvidia-96xx and wine fonts are fine now.  Used this: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=60565  My pypanel is fine still.

Re: problem with pypanel and rgb

I replaced nvidia-96xx with the nv driver and voila! I've got my fonts back in the panel smile

Re: problem with pypanel and rgb

That'll work fine as long as you aren't into 3D desktop stuff.
