[SOLVED] Segfault when trying to start Folding@home

Hey,

Installed Folding@home, ran the configure, etc. I can't start it, though! If I set FAH_USER="ranguvar" in my /etc/conf.d/foldingathome-smp , that is. If I leave that blank, it works. I'd rather not run the daemon as root if I don't have to, though. I also tried removing the 'forceasm' option, to no avail. Yes, I'm on x86_64. My configure is defaults besides the user change as I said.

The error:

bash: line 1: 10925 Segmentation fault /opt/fah-smp/fah6 -smp -verbosity 9 -forceasm > /opt/fah-smp/ranguvar/myfah.log

I made sure to source /etc/profile, as fah installed to /opt, but that didn't fix it. Neither did a *shudder* reboot. The daemon failed to start at boot, same error. The log file mentioned in the error contains no errors whatsoever.

Thanks for any help smile

Solved by deleting the main install directory, and then re-installing and NOT following the instructions from the package install, but from the Wiki only.

I'm having the same issue, except following the wiki still segfaults.  I see a nasty segfault after running /etc/rc.d/foldingathome-smp start too.
