The problem is afterwards there's nothing I can do - I've tryed restarting xorg - but It cannot go out of the blanc screen, and reboot is the only option I got. As the problem occours I can SSH'e to the machine, the system is actually working, I can hear I can change channels etc open TV, I can stop the process. But the screen stays blanc.

I've looked in the WIKI and found that EEE had a special Kernel for running on EEE - But this will not work on my machine. Keep saying that the file /boot/vmlinuzeee does not exist - eventhough it is there.

What can I do with this error.
I've have normally runned the standard packages and kernels - so could this be a problem, also when it had run for several months without problems ?

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

I had/have similar problem with new Intel G45ID motherboard (integrated graphics).

See http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=59533 and http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=60723

After adding "nopat" to kernel boot options these errrors disappeared.

However, in my case in doesn't help fully - my screen  still flickers, but for now mostly while webbrowsing (in firefox/opera/konqueror; midori and kazehakase are OK)

Excuse my lame english.

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

This seems to be a fairly common problem. I've found references to it with Debian and Mandriva. This thread seems to imply that there may be some sort of kernel conflict with the new Intel/Xorg setup:

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

OK.
Well - Need to try kernels before 27 - to make it run correctly again.
Adding nopat didn't solve it.

Thanks

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

If problems started after upgrading X what about downgrade ? It is lame solution, but better than blank screen. And maybe good starting point for searching whats wrong ?

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

I've tried also downgrading Xorg alone - Xorg along kernel - and still getting the same error - Seems really randomly when the blanc screen comes.

Eventhough I've downgraded It should be handled on both machine's if its was a hardware error or anything like it

Re: Xorg goes blanc randomly - memory error?

Bumping the problem.

I've tryed make a downgrade - but that carses more conflicts between the different packages - and a reinstall would be much easiere - but that'll give me the same problem again - I've tried it now.
I have 2 Asus EEE B202 - So reinstalling the one from scratch ending up with the same problem in the end - So isn't it possible to make or do something about this kernel conflict between kernel and intel/Xorg
