same question.
and why does pacman wants to downgrade when doing pacman -Su without warning about package installed newer than the one in database ?

This is a forced downgrade because there was major problems with dmraid-1.0.0.rc15-5 (search forum/bug tracker). Just let pacman downgrade the package.

(search forum/bug tracker)
well, I've searched for "dmraid" in bug tracker, there is only one feature request for including it to the installer images, and it was answered that it was done long ago.
wow, it was urgent to downgrade
(sorry, just a joke)
there's some topics in the forums indeed
there's quite some similitudes with a bug that I've reported :
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12374?project=1
don't you think these bugs could be related to this one ?
what makes me think these bugs could be related :
- kernel upgrade is often mentioned in theses topics, my bug arise when rebuilding boot images (with mkinitcpio, which is done on each kernel upgrade)
- no data in these topics about fallback image, exact names of dmraid devices (it's significant for my bug) and which filesystem are used (some users gave some of this data, but it is quite incomplete)
- for my bug, we have suspected both kernel and dmraid before eventually discover that it is in mkinitcpio
I know there is only few chance that so many users had my bug (need to be very unlucky ), but who knows ...
it would be a pity to downgrade a package because of a bug in mkinitcpio
what about other distros ?
do they experience same issues with this upgrade, and if not, is mkinitcpio specific to archlinux (I think so, but not sure) ?
PS : sorry, not sure of my english

You missed the bug report : http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12089 You only searched in the opened ones.
I'm not familiar enough with dmraid to comment on the other problems you mentionned.
