Xorg DMX support

Hi!

I've been thinking of a couple of solutions to multiple screens on different computers, and found (very little), info about xdmx.
The info I got was that it's now built in and developed by the Xorg team?
However, I can't find any more info on how it works, how to set it up and configure it.

How well does it work?
I can't find the binaries on my computer, is it disabled in the xorg packages installed with pacman?
How do I make it work smile?

Thanks for all help

Re: Xorg DMX support

I'm also searching for a multi screen solution. I often sit with my laptop in pc pools at university. So i had the idea to also use this empty screen in front of me, next to my laptop, as second screen. I'm not allowed to plug it in. I came across Xdmx (http://dmx.sourceforge.net/) which is now part of Xorg and it seems to do exactly what i want.

As far as i can tell it's disabled in the Xorg package. Are there reasons for disabling? Is it still working (seems to be old)?
And does anybody know a good howto? I've found this: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opens … s-mltihed/

Re: Xorg DMX support

I found this option in PKGBUILD from abs tree:

--disable-dmx

You just have to enable this option and rebuild package wink

Which package is it I have to do that? The xorg package is a group.

Edit: Nevermind, found it. Its the xorg-server package. Just change --disable-dmx to --enable-dmx like SpeedVin said.
