Unable to start apps - help please?

I get this frequent error when I try to start a few apps like amarok and opendx.

Dynamic Linking is not working
If you are on BSDDid you specify the correct libc file during installation
Error: Can't open display: :0.0

Can someone please explain to me what the problem is here?

Re: Unable to start apps - help please?

Something sounds really, really messed up - it sounds like the apps can't find libc

What have you done to your system lately?

Umm..nothing major ....hopefully sad ....Is there a reason only a select few programs do not work? Is there a way by which I can find what is common to all of them?

Re: Unable to start apps - help please?

I don't know if you found anything out as of yet, but I had the same issue and resolved it by deleting both the /tmp/.ICE_unix directory and the ~/.DCOPserver_<machinename>_-0 link. Logged out and it worked fine. Trying to find out if KDE's bugzilla has a report on this as of yet

*I would strongly recommend you backup these files before removing them*

Also check there permissions?
