Hi, I've just installed Gnome on my netbook last night and it was great...Until I started it again this noon, I can't anymore type my username on GDM it seems that my keyboard was not detected. My touchpad works fine but my usb mouse doesn't work as well. So I did run it on console mode then when I was at the console I've restarted hal and run gdm again and it worked fine afterwards.:/ I have to do this again and again to make my gdm work. I'm using the latest hal version because I'm using networkmanager 0.7...Any similar issues? Any help would be appreciated...:)
edit: Tried slim also but still the same problem...:(
Thanks in advance

Do you use xorg hotplugging http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … otplugging ? If so, try to turn it off and see what happens.

I disabled hotplugging, following the link you provided...Thanks man!!!!It was very helpful...I had this prob for so long and it's hell!!!:D
I've also noticed that my xorg.conf has this:
Section "InputDevice"
Option "XkbLayout" "gb,us"
After disabling, starting gdm won't let me log in maybe because the keymap is different...
Removing "gb" did the trick...:)
BTW, my xorg.conf was copied from the Acer Aspire One Wiki of Arch since I'm using an AA1 as well...:)
Great thanks...:)

Just a note. When hot plugging is enabled the keyboard options in xorg.conf not used by xserver. All config including keymaps goes to hal.
