Realtek alc268 mic not working - Skype

Running kernel 2.6.29-arch 64 bits.
Soundcard Realtek alc268 analog.
Playback audio files OK.
Recording through sound recorder OK, though need volumes all the way up.
Test microphone with gstreamer-properties is OK with both oss and alsa.
Installed 32-bin-skype through AUR, I can hear other people talking OK, but my own mic only produces a loud crackling noise.
Added snd-hda-intel model=auto ( Acer Aspire 7520 ) tried also other options to no avail.
The latest linux distro with skype working was Ubuntu 8.04. Tried Ubuntu 9.04 but with the same result as above.

Anyone with the same probs and hopefully a solution ?

Apparently we're alone in this world.

As stated before all worked well in Ubuntu 8.04, not in 8.10, not in 9.04.
I'm dual booting Arch and Ubuntu, now alpha 9.10, here it works with kernel 2.6.30.*, so it's a kernel issue.
Strange though that you're the only one to react.

Just as info.

Switched from gnome to xfce.

Set mixer settings to oss and defaults in gstreamer-properties to alsa to get skype working.
Funny enough this is the only configuration to work.

Do hope that with kernel 2.6.30 all sound settings:cool: can go back to normal.

Did you check if skype doesn't hijack your soundcard with that solution?

Seems to be OK, but would prefer to run Skype 100 % under Alsa, like stated before under Ubuntu 9.10 alpha with the new kernel it's better.
