Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

Hi guys!!.

1° Try open my "Home" with Places Menu entry:

2° Open search dialog!!!:

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

right click on any folder and select properties. Make it so it opens with Nautilus by default. That should fix it.

@superchango - what theme are you using?

CPU-optimized Linux-ck packages @ Repo-ck  • AUR packagesZsh and other configs

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

I have similar problem and twin's solution doesn't work - there is no "open with" tab in folder properties so I can't set Nautilus as default application.

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

So: for me, Under "Places", opening Home, Documents, Images, Videos, Music and all entries in the sub-menu "Removable Devices" behaves badly.
Everything else behaves correctly.

Behaving badly here means "opens the application Easy-TAG". (it is an mp3 id tag editor).

If i remove/rename the file /usr/share/applications/easytag.desktop into something else, everything works perfectly again, except that there is not an entries for easyTag in the menu anymore.
If i keep the file, but just remove the line "Type=Application", everything works but, unfortunately, EasyTAG still not being in the Applications > Audio Menu.

My easytag.desktop file: (i can't see any major syntax error)

Name=EasyTAG

This bug is.. hilarious? smile

Same problem here as Stefanauss. Pretty weird issue indeed.

I kinda "solved" it by deleting /usr/share/applications/easytag.desktop and setting a new Easytag menu entry via alacarte.

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

Ok, is a MIME bug, and i fix it changing something xD  from KDE 4 "System settings", i don't know which is the file that have all this options:

1.- Start KDE4 session.
2.- Open "System settings"
3.- Go to "Default Applications" and search "File Manager" option.
4.- Select "Other" and add "nautilus" to the list and mark it.
5.- Save an  exit KDE4 session.
6.- That's all

Surely exist a more elegant solution for this problem, but this work with my arch xD.

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

How can I fix this in Gnome?
There is no "File Manager" entry in "Default Applications" option from the menu....And I want to keep EasyTag in the menu.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this doesn't seem to work for me. I deleted the file but nothing happened. I also rebooted...:/
Arch64 with Gnome and Neutronium-Midnight Theme.

EDIT: Solved it with workaround mentioned here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69035 Post #7

Re: Gnome Places Menu not open any places [SOLVED]

I hate to bring it up again, but this problem is recurring. I had an incorrect program opening instead of "nautilus" (in my case "totem", not "easytag") when opening a directory. I solved it but it comes back sometimes, I can not determine why. Tricks from this and linked threads always solve this problem. Should I report a bug?
