is there any piece of software that could do that? copy/paste from GUI to CLI and vice versa.

Highlight/middle click should do what you want.

I hope you're not having any problems w/ vi(m) ...
There's a bunch of clipboard-managing apps, depends on what you need. Do you want to copy from vc and paste in X?

..and the other way around.
"Highlight/middle click should do what you want."
yes, but that's not what i meant. i want to copy from x and paste in vc, and vice versa.

That's what I was afraid of. Why do you need to switch (so often)?

well, cp/pst from gui browser to cli, for instance.
and etc.
and i wanna know if its possible at all.

Why can't you run f.e. xterm in X?
There's a bunch of different ways of moving data, f.e. you can save sth to a file in X and open it in vc, but I'd like to know why do you need such functionality.

simple matter of convenience.

Ummm, sorry, don't get it. You prefer switching X <-> vc rather than switching apps / workspaces? If you install gpm http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pos … _.28gpm.29 you might get what you want, but I never tried it, so you're on your own here.

Nice question - I wish I knew the answer. Copying to CLI in X is done with shift AND middle click. But to tty1-6 I have no idea...

i am trying to work my way around this using screen/twin/dvtm.

If you have X running on some display, you can copy/paste to/from ttys using xclip.
On the tty, run
export DISPLAY=:0.0
(replacing :0.0 with the running X display).
You can work with the X clipboard normally in a GUI environment (highlight/middle-click), and in a terminal emulator or on a tty, use xclip -i to place something in the clipboard and xclip -o to retrieve the clipboard contents.

For screen, you can always export what you copied in the screen copy mode to X selection. Not sure if it is possible to export a X selection to the screen copy/insert system.
