[solved] how to install scim

i using english arch linux, but i need to type chinese and japanese word in arch, how to setup? i already install scim-pinyin, but i click on ctrl and space would come out.

Yup, nothing more annoying than looking for a solution and find someone who didn't share. Please let others know how this problem was solved.

I guess the issue the origianl poster have is that scim doesn't start with the desktop environment,
if that is the case, add these codes to the .xinitrc in your home directory:

export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim
scim -d
