qt 4.5.2-3 from testing does not remove phonon as it seems.
i tried to install qt 4.5.2-3 from kde-unstable with phonon-xine package but if failed.

So i ll stick with qt from testing.

@anyone having problems with akonadi: if you install the package boost, the problems are (normally) gone

thanks for your tip. as it seems it needs boost from testing.
so there is no need of recompiling as i posted above. the only think i managed with recompiling was to build it against the older boost.:)

Yeah, perhaps that's true

magerquark wrote:Does anyone know why the packages in kde-unstable are built without debugging symbols? Because its a rc it would make much more sense and be really helpful.
From memory, that is because it adds a lot to the size and you really need deps built with debugging symbols too for it to be useful.
Qt + KDE debug symbols are enough in 99% of all cases.
want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

In general:
* You have to use testing with the kde-unstable repo.
* If you think you have found a packaging bug or other issue it would be nice to file a bug report at our tracker.
* Be carefull when installing new KDE related packages; pacman has problems with finding the right deps and will install KDE from extra.
The overhead of adding debug symbols to the packages was quite big. (e.g. kdelibs was more than 5 times larger if I remember correctly) We would also need to recompile Qt with debugging symbols to get useful traces. But the goal of the repo was just to find integration, functional and packaging problems.

it would be my pleasure reporting in the bug tracker but there is no way of submitting bug reports for kde-unstable repo in the official arch bug tracker.

Just file it in the Arch section and when you select a section "Packages:Extra" will do. Mention kde-unstable in the report and we can figure it out.

after update to kde 4.3 rc2 i can't compile a lot of kde4 programs:
gwenrename for example (in aur)

This is rather unpleasant, i just delete kdemod stable and install KDE from unstable. First i get lots of errors that some packages exists in filesystem...
Also pacman is installed some packages form extra (and nothing worked), and i try to update but then he installed some mime packages. Now moistly application don't work: Dolphin, Qonqueror, Kopete, Umbrello...
What means this this type of error:
phonon-xine: /usr/lib/pkgconfig/phonon.pc exists in filesystem
I get a lot this type of error when i try to install KDE, and then i use sudo pacman -Sf it get job done, but i doubt that is the right way.

You did it all wrong No problem though.
Do what I say in this thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75438
except for the step No4.
Ιn order to have a fully working KDE 4.3:
1)Remove ANY Kde package you have installed.
2)It would be better to make a backup of your ~/.kde4 directory. It would be wise to remove it completely, after taking a backup.
3)Put [kde-unstable] ABOVE all.
4)Put [testing] just under [kde-unstable]. Only under [kde-unstable] and above the other repos. Do not disable any other repo.
5)pacman -Syy
6)pacman -S kde-meta --> ONLY kde-meta, because with "pacman -S kde" you download and install KDE 4.2 packages as well.
7)Log out, login.
8) You are ready.
But since libjpeg 7 is in extra now, I don't think you should have [testing] enabled now So forget step no4.

And make sure to install qt from kde-unstable; it has the same pkgrel as the one in extra. (due to an unexpected rebuild)

@flamelab
Thank you for your help, it worked.
@Pierre
I have checked, and i have both installed.
But the version is the same.

i have installed qt from testing with no problems at all.
qt from kde-unstable has problems with phono-xine from the same repository, resulting to a system with no phonon installed.
any suggestions?

For those that are interested, there is now a patch to fix kdelibs with libjpeg7.
http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/4.3/ … rev=998546
So expect this fixed soon...

I will upload kdelibs 4.2.4-4 soon; please check if this fixes the problem. I wont patch kde-unstable; will be part of the final anyway.

Yes, this fixed the problem.

Hell yeah!
Thank you so much

Qt package in this repository provides phonon, for me this doesn't work, I've downgraded to phonon and qt in extra and this works for now (remember to set xine as preference in system settings).

Please be more verbose about this problem. What does not work. Any error messages? With KDE 4.3 phonon will be provided by Qt.

It works nicely here. Just set, in "Multimedia", the "default" device first everywhere.
