Made the switch from Gnome/Compiz to Xfce4/xfwm4, very happy with the speed difference! Maybe one day I'll give openbox a go, anyways
This computer boots 3 OS's, Windows 7 (same disk) and OSx86 (seperate disk). Gnome-volume-manager mounted the hfs+ disk and the ntfs partition automatically on boot. Thunar-volman doesn't seem to. It does mount my usb keys perfectly. I googled quite a bit but can't find a clear answer as to whether thunar-volman can mount fixed disks, or seperate partitions automatically.
Yes, I know I can add them to /etc/fstab. I was just wondering if this is normal behaviour or if something is broken.
Happy Arch user....

Err, go in /media and add a custom shortcut to Thunar?

Thunar volman is for removable media only according to the documentation.

'pmount'.
That one's also for removeable media only.

why you just won't add those discs in /etc/fstab, so they would be mounted on system boot?

i assumed hal would just automount it. although with pcmanfm i had better luck since it shows up the drive and i have to click so it can be mount.

Hal does not automount drives. See how udev/hal/mounting etc. works here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL

Hi,
i hope this thread isn't too dead yet.
If thunar-volman is for removeable media only.. is there anything to handle fixed drives in thunar?
I can't add a shortcut/fstab entry because the drive is luks-encrypted. I'd like to get prompted to
enter my password by klicking the drive (it's working with external drives).
Thanks
