I need to set openoffice to 1 inch margins by default. The only way to do that is to create a custom template and set it as the default template. The problem is that openoffice writer is crashing when it opens a template. I have tried to create several templates, they all result in a crash. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Google turned up a few bugs similar to this, but they were way back in 2007. Is there a fix that I am missing?
edit: I forgot to add that I just updated so it is go-openoffice v. 3.1.1.2
Thanks

It seems that only the origional templates installed with go-openoffice will open. I pulled a saved template from an Ubuntu machine and this arch box couldn't open it. If I take a pre-made template and save it, openoffice is no longer able to open it. It seems that go-openoffice is unable to open any templates that have been saved, not just by this version, but by any version at any time. At least for me.
Edit. Openoffice-base doesn't seem to have this problem.

report this issue upstream to the ooo-build guys. they use the Novell bugtracker.

I had the same issue. I...
- deleted the ~/.config/.openoffice.org directory
- installed the templates again globally with
sudo unopkg add --shared *oxt
... and now it works.
Don't know if deleting the settings directory was necessary though, that alone didn't help.

Same problem here Tried the unopkg add method, it doesn't work here, but I just realized I tried it on my custom .ott files (they are not packages afterall). This is with go-openoffice of course. Regular openoffice seemed to open .ott templates flawlessly when last time I tried (on other distroes though).

ok, I have a similar problem with go-openoffice 3.1.1.3 and 3.1.1.4 . I created a new blank impress file, and wanted to apply the master page to my slides, but it seemed not working, slides were still blank.
Openoffice-base has no this problem.

Was a solution ever found to this problem? I'm experiencing the same thing, when trying to create a custom template for Writer. I'm using go-openoffice 3.1.1.5.
I tried "unopkg add --shared *oxt" and got an error:
ERROR: Error while adding: file:///home/user/*oxt
Cause: an error occured during file opening
unopkg failed.

I ended up moving back to openoffice (the beta) instead of go-openoffice because of this....

I can confirm this template problem.
sudo unopkg add --shared *oxt doesn't work, I got the same message as cb474. Using go-openoffice 3.1.1.5 (because I have to save xls with password protection).
