Gnome 2.28 / Banshee / iPod

I've mentioned this already in one of the other threads about 2.28 upgrade problems, but can't work out how to tackle it.  Banshee no longer picks up my iPod, although Rhythmbox has no problem.  Adding the iPod before or after starting programs, or booting with it plugged in, all produces the same result.

Removing the solution to an earlier problem from here shows that problem to have been solved by the upgrade, but doesn't change the current situation.

Re: Gnome 2.28 / Banshee / iPod

Anybody?

I get this:

$ podsleuth -l
No iPods were found in the HAL device tree

even though it's appearing in Nautilus.  Is it maybe just being recognised as a generic music player, and how can I check if this is the case?  (In which case, how is Rhythmbox accessing it?)

I've found a workaround to this problem: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=495240#c20
