Hi all, please do this quick test if you use go-openoffice...

Run soffice --impress (or the equivalent GUI to open up Impress).

On the first screen of the wizard, select 'From Template'.

Do you get "Error loading the template : General Error" as a pop-up? I haven't used Impress in a while, now when I want to I suddenly find I can only create a blank file and not use any of the templates I've collected....

Please confirm if this also happens in vanilla OOo. if not file a bug at Novell's tracker.

Does not happen in vanilla OOo (openoffice-base-beta). The next time some bandwidth opens up I'll try openoffice-base, but my gut feeling is that this is specific to go-openoffice.

The same problem here although it only happens with the wizard. I can change the background while working on my presentation by clicking PPP on a slide and selecting Slide project -> Load -> [choose a background] -> OK (I've translated this from Polish to English, so I'm not sure if all the names are exactly the same, as in English version of GO-OpenOffice.

same problem even with go-openoffice 3.2
choosing Master page designs on the right panel does no effect too

I just checked using personal templates in ubuntu in works flawlessly, so it seems to be a problem with Arch's package

I confirm the same problem with go-openoffice-3.2.0.9-2, and it doesn't appen with Ubuntu's go-openoffice and neither with OxygenOffice (a suite based on go-openoffice that i use under sVista. It really looks like a problem with the Arch's package:/
