[SOLVED] gnome wont start anymore

When I first installed gnome, I was able to start it abd everything worked fine. Now when I try to start it, I get a black screen with two small white lines towards the
top. Can anyone help?

EDIT: I don't know if this helps. but I used the button on my laptop to power off instead of the gnome shutdown or "shutdown now"

You will need to specify your video card, drivers etc. before anyone can offer help.  Also, there have been numerous "black screen" or blank screen threads recently, so a forum search may turn up something useful.

My video card is:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

I also have a thread about this at linuxquestions that will give you more info about it

Re: [SOLVED] gnome wont start anymore

Nevermind I solved it using trial and error (I had the wrong video driver)
