Since upgrading to gnome 2.30, my mouse pointer has changed to the default pointer but the other cursors (busy, etc) still follow the theme i choose. Has anyone else have this problem?
Thanks in advance.

There's a bug submitted for this. Just search the bug tracker for "cursor".

There are possible solutions/work-arounds to this problem here:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=74937
and here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/X11_Cursors
The first one worked for me.

Is this ever going to get fixed or do we have to live with the ugly default X cursor when using compiz ? As soon as i select compiz as window-manager the cursor reverts back to the default, non of the suggested workarounds help. With metacity it works fine with any custom cursors.
I guess this must be the submitted bug: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18923

I guess this must be the submitted bug: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18923
since this is not a packaging bug, it will never be fixed until somebody report it upstream.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I'm using compiz and do not have this problem. As I posted above, I changed my default cursor and now it's fine.
