Internet interface stops working after some a few moments

Hello, dear arch users,

My Laptop Mode: HP Convertible x360 11-ab0XX

I have been using this laptop since 2018 and windows from 2018 to 2022 when i decided to hop my os to arch.

After months of using arch, I have started to get this networking issue when my wifi interface goes bad after a few moments of boot and I have to reboot it again and again to fix the same issue only to encounter it again.
I saw some other posts related to this same issue but could not find any post which is relevant enough to fix my issue. This is my first post so please, stay with me and try to please understand this issue

Outputs:

dmesg:

Thanks for looking into this issue smile

* P.S: I switched between different network managers such as NetworkManager and iwd but even after using those, I get the same issue

Though that kinda sucks.
To rule out any misconfiguration w/ your NM experiments and for maybe relevant context to the crash, please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Re: Internet interface stops working after some a few moments

Thank you very much @seth for replying back to my issue.

I have read the attachments sent by you and and I decided to add the property

pcie_aspm=off

to my boot.
I am waiting for any further issues with my network interface and if there isn't any, I will complete this issue as [SOLVED] and reply back.
Otherwise, I would reply back with more information about my problem, Thanks, again.

The journal log you require: http://0x0.st/H73Z.txt

Re: Internet interface stops working after some a few moments

Journal dosn't suggest any config issues, but also doen't include the crash.
nb. that pcie_aspm affects all devices and disabling it will (slightly) increase the battery drain.
iwlwifi and iwlmvm have some specific settings, eg. iwlwifi.power_save, iwlwifi.remove_when_gone and iwlmvm.power_scheme that might allow more nimble mitigation.

Ah yes, not even a hour into the process and the problem started again.

Dmesg -> http://0x0.st/H73f.txt

Re: Internet interface stops working after some a few moments

iwlwifi goes tits-up right after

Mar 06 20:50:59 arz kernel: atkbd serio0: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xab on isa0060/serio0).
Mar 06 20:50:59 arz kernel: atkbd serio0: Use 'setkeycodes e02b <keycode>' to make it known.
Mar 06 20:50:59 arz kernel: atkbd serio0: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xab on isa0060/serio0).
Mar 06 20:50:59 arz kernel: atkbd serio0: Use 'setkeycodes e02b <keycode>' to make it known.

what seems to be the HP scancode for the brightness control key?
Can you trigger the problem this way? Does it also happen on external power supply?

Is the weird symbol on F12 the radio? (Does the notebook have an rfkill switch)

Try to disable all power saving for iwlwifi & iwlmvm

No, i don't believe it has any relation with any keys with keyboard as I have checked dmesg multiple times before and it produces the same error at several times.
But it always happens commonly for some reason, especially after a systemd or a 'threadpoolforeg' warning; use nl80211 something.

I do not know how to disable power for iwlwifi and this is the first time i got to know about something called a 'iwlmvm'

the keysym for my brightness keys are: 0x1008ff03 and 0x1008ff02.

And I do not know what is a rfkill switch and I did light research on it and I don't think it is doing anything

*P.S: the symbol on the F12 key is a symbol of a airplane rather than a radio.

Re: Internet interface stops working after some a few moments

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Networ … ill_caveat

Please on't paraphrase.
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/dev … on/nl80211
The warning in the jouranal is from atop

Mar 06 20:28:37 arz kernel: warning: `atop' uses wireless extensions which will stop working for Wi-Fi 7 hardware; use nl80211

and WAAAYYYY ahead of the firmware crash.

I do not know how to disable power for iwlwifi and this is the first time i got to know about something called a 'iwlmvm'

iwlwifi.power_save=0 iwlwifi.remove_when_gone=1 iwlwifi.swcrypto=1 iwlmvm.power_scheme=1

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters (power_save=0 should be default, though)

sudo iw dev wlan0 set power_save off

You're also romaing quite a lot, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Iwd#iwd_keeps_roaming
