[SOLVED] RTL8822CE WiFi on HP Pavilion Aero 13

Hello there, this is my first time posting in this forum, pardon any inconvenience.

I am not super new to ArchLinux as I am daily driving it from it for almost 2 years in my desktop. But I am fairly clueless regarding this WiFi problem.

My laptop HP Pavilion Aero 13 (2023) use Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Adapter and I can't get it connect. The device doesn't even list in 'iwctl'. Diving a little bit deeper, I found out the 'rtw_8822ce' driver in use can't load the firmware correctly.

'dmesg | grep rtw' shows:

[   31.275879] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0003)
[ 31.399987] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: WOW Firmware version 9.9.4. H2C version 15
[ 31.400471] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: Firmware version 9.9.15. H2C version 15
[ 31.422639] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: failed to download firmware
[ 31.424433] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: failed to setup chip efuse info
[ 31.424953] rtw_8822ce 0000:01:00.0: failed to setup chip information
[ 31.452228] rtw_8822ce: probe of 0000:01:00.0 failed with error -22

'lspci -knn | grep -A3 Wireless' shows:

01::00.0 Network controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter [10ec:c822]
	DeviceName: WLAN
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter [103c:85f7]
	Kernel modules: rtw88_8822ce, wl

I have tried out Live CDs of Manjaro, Fedora, Linux Mint none of them works except Ubuntu.
In Ubuntu, my WiFi works like charm, no issues at all. When I ran 'dmesg | grep rtw' on Ubuntu Live CD, it shows no firmware download error. Though, one thing I noticed, the WOW Firmware version message comes after the Firmware version message. I don't have super clear idea about Linux firmwares, but my guess is my card needs the WOW firmware to be loaded.

Noteworthy to mention, the other live CDs I've tried shows the same firmware loading errors as Arch. Any ideas how to fix it on Arch?

Re: [SOLVED] RTL8822CE WiFi on HP Pavilion Aero 13

Turns out the problem was with Windows Fast Boot, which maybe somehow prohibiting the firmware to load. Ubuntu probably loaded the firmware somehow. Now happily using ArchLinux, no network issues at all, Cheers.

Edit: How can I mark it solved? Newbie here.
Again Edit: Gotcha :')
