[SOLVED] Cannot read S.M.A.R.T. values from USB drive

I can't read S.M.A.R.T. values from USB drive.

sudo smartctl --all /dev/sda
smartctl 7.4 2023-08-01 r5530 [x86_64-linux-6.8.7-arch1-1] (local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-23, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org

/dev/sda: Unknown USB bridge [0x0951:0x176b (0x100)]
Please specify device type with the -d option.

Use smartctl -h to get a usage summary

This is Kingston External SSD.

My NVMe to USB adapter based on JMicron controller doesn't work as well (with Seagate SSD).

Check manpage on -d option, sometimes -d sat or similar works. It depends on the usb chipset...

Solved! The flag -d sat works (for Kingston).
