Hi,
i installed complete package xorg package (+ NVIDIA driver), but xserver doesnt work!

It says:
cannot load GLX extension (NVIDIA driver is not installed)
Command not found: xclock

I configured xorg.conf by hwd -x.

please help.

My system specifications:
monitor: SOny CPD 300sf multiscan
card. GF 4 Mx 440 64 mb ram
Pentium 4
512 mb ram

you need to edit xorg so the the line "Driver" is nvidia.

did you change the driver to say nvidia? have you tried reinstalling the driver

pacman -R nvidia

pacman -Sy nvidia

this will sound silly, but ii've had this prob, and to fix it i forgot to bump up my resolution to "1280x1024", i 'm going to assume you use a higher res than what you have specified.

Please show me how to edit Xorg.conf please ... my monitor supports 1024x1280 with 75 hz.... and 1024x768 with 80 hz.

to edit your xorg, type

su 

then type your root password password

then type

nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

then edit the section "Screen"
go down to the section with the depth of 24, and add the resolutions you need, put the one you want to use first.

then to save hit

Control+O (thats the control key and the letter O

then exit with Control key and the letter x

i didn't pay attention to what card you are using, i think since its an older card, you need the legacy drivers.

try this

pacman -R nvidia

pacman -S nvidia-96xx

What's your kernel version? Did you run pacman -Syu after installing?
