We're changing our name!

After 5 years of being called Arch Linux and 5 years of people confusing us with Ark Linux, we've finally come up with a solution. We've spent the last few months talking to the Ark Linux people to come up with a solution that's beneficial for both distributions. Today, we are happy to announce a name change for Arch Linux. ...

i hate april the 1st! it has shocked me! nice joke! but guys, change it as soon as possible! no distribution is like ARCH! if changing name - all other distris have to change their name to archlinux!

Having just woken up and not realizing what day it was, my reaction was as follows on IRC:

07:48 < yankees26> that and i fail to see how just switching names aleves the name confusion...

The forums are replacing "a pril f ools" (without the spaces after the 1st letter) with "its called arklinux now" (so, "on an it's called arklinux now joke" should be "on an a pril f ools joke" (without the spaces in a pril f ools).

Man I think I was one of the first who was duped by this.. Around 1:20 am EST alunnd (tray notifier for arch news and updates) tells me there's new news so I head over to the homepage and just about fell off my chair! I was soooo infuriated that I immediately fired up my IRC client, jumped into #archlinux, I was ready to kick ass and take names!! In the process I upset quite a few people, here's a copy of the whole ordeal.. Notice how they first thought I was crazy, telling that Ark is a different distro LOL! Notice the topic!
