I would like you to know that we appreciate your efforts very, very much. Excellent- EXCELLENT work, my friend.
Thanks to you and everyone else working on this fine distro.
I just reinstalled Arch, and have been tweaking my /etc/pacman.d/ repos, and can't wait to try yours out.

Dear Ryujin,
Thank you...Thank you...Thank you. I am afraid to say this as it may bog you down and then it won't be so fast (for me), but this maxed out my home line of 6Mb/s. If your in North America this is the new speed demon coming out way on top...hopefully actually all the mirrors will get faster as the load gets more diversified. Thanks again Ryujin.
Sincerely,
Jp

Thanks so much. The US really needed this. Quite fast over here in L.A.

Very much appreciated!
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but, is rsync available? If not, could it be?
[user@host ~]$ rsync locke.suu.edu::
rsync: failed to connect to locke.suu.edu: Connection refused (111)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [receiver=2.6.9]

Thank you for your compliments, I just set this server up and ftp has only been available for a day, I will have rsync up soon but it is not my top priority. We are hooked into a 3 gig pipe and right now Arch is the only thing in our mirror so go ahead and heat up the pipe! I am very happy to have it here too as many of the North American servers have been a mess lately, I enjoy getting my 1000+ K download from home via this new mirror!

Ryujin,
Thank you for your efforts, very nice, quick, error free sync/upgrade.

Ryujin,
First, thanks for your efforts in getting the University to host this. Second, for your efforts in implementing the server.
I live in Colorado, and I am downloading at around 750 Kbps or a little more. That's pretty much maxing out my Broadband Cable connection (Comcast). I couldn't be happier.
Thanks again,
Pudge

Please make a feature request on the bug tracker to have it added to pacman's mirror list.

Snowman, it's already on the wiki page (which is suppose to be more up-to-date, no?)

Ryujin,
Thanks again!
The reason rsync is nice, it supports a --delete flag (if I've missed something in 'man wget', please let me know).

Thanks Ryujin. This is indeed (more) welcome news on the American mirror situation.

Snowman, I sent an email on the pacman-dev list announcing it, I will make a bug report as well, we want very much to be on that list.

OK Snowman, I sent in the feature request, if anyone finds a problem with the mirror please tell me so I can get it fixed (so far everything looks to be going smoothly, pretty good for my first mirror!)

Try 'help mirror' in lftp.

Try 'help mirror' in lftp.
Thanks!
Come to think of it, though, another reason to use rsync is support for '--exclude-from <large-exclude-list-file>'. This helps reduce the burden on the host mirror. Example: exclude the dozens of localized openoffice-??- variations (14MB each!).
Can this level of flexibility available (and cron'able) with ftp client?

Hey, thanks for the new mirror. I love the speed.

Thanks for the Mirror! It is working great here. Great job.

I probably won't be using it due to my location in the US, but I do want to thank you anyways for supporting Arch Linux. It's quite a selfless and respectable thing to donate bandwidth. Thank you.
Hopefully the next newsletter will mention this.
