Hi,
I have a problem with xfce4, i just can't start it!
when i try to run startxfce4 i had:
/etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc: line 77: 4370 Aborted $xfcesm
I tried to edit that file, but doesn't help at all...
Please help me...
Thanks

just a thought: maybe make sure you have all the packages installed and upto date
pacman -Qi |grep xfce4
you should get something like
libxfce4mcs 4.4.1-2
libxfce4util 4.4.1-3
xfce4-appfinder 4.4.1-2
xfce4-diskperf-plugin 2.1.0-3
xfce4-icon-theme 4.4.1-2
xfce4-mixer 4.4.1-2
xfce4-panel 4.4.1-2
xfce4-session 4.4.1-2
or maybe just try a remove xfce4 totally, and pacman it back in again
edit:
uuuuh, afterthought. what stage are you at with what you've installed.?
did you install xorg before xfce4 ?

why: cos every time i install i forget to do xorg first. and it screws things up.
is this a first install of Arch, and what steps have you followed from the WIKI to get your desktop / X / xfce4 working ?

Finally a got xfce4 working using an old voodoo iso...
I think that the last iso is a little buggy, it gave me a lot of permission problems...
Thanks

If its permission problems then it is most likely this bug #7194 if your still interested.

I just installed Arch today (21may07), and I believe I'm getting this bug. "startx" and "startxfce4" work for root, but not for user. Also, when I try to run Midnight Commander as user, I get this message:
Cannot create temporary directly /tmp/mc-username: Permission denied (13)
Temporary files will not be created
Press any key to continue ...
What can I do to fix this? It seems to be a serious show-stopper to me.
Thanks.

Well, I've gotten a workable system by changing all permissions in /tmp to 1777. So far, so good.

yep, i had to do that, too. it appears to be a bug, as ingivldr mentioned.
