looks good!
maybe chuck a few light gradients in the middle one and it should look awesome.

The third one along looks best, the others look to cartoonish for arch.

Current Arch logo is the best, there's no need to change

nobody said anything about changing, people are free to design and share their own, they will not supplant the official, original logo.

I think it's great, but I think freigeists is prettier and more professional-looking

I agree, Kenetixx I think the 3rd is the best of the bunch... I've added some basic wallpapers to gnome-look.org for anyone who's interested:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … tent=61920

Beautiful work. Please keep it up.

I liked the first one the best. Especially when it had a white background like in the other post. Very, very nice. I like the wallpapers too....thanks.

You're very welcome... actually, the first one doesn't have any inner colour at all--the middle of the arch is hollow, allowing the background colour to come through. The middle logo has an actual layer inside the arch, allowing you to specify a 2nd colour (such as the blue shown above).

I've added an OpenOffice.org splash screen to gnome-look.org:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … tent=61977
Bonus
You can tweak the progress bar even further and make it white (or whatever colour you want):
$ sudo nano /opt/openoffice/program/sofficerc
Change:
ProgressBarColor=0,0,128
to this:
ProgressBarColor=255,255,255
Or you can disable the splash screen altogether by changing the Logo value to zero (e.g. Logo=0)
Save, exit, and that's it.

I'm using one of the wallpapers you submitted to gnome-look (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … tent=61919) and I like it very much. I think the standard logo is nice, but it's complicated. It has too much going on... colors, gradients, shadows. All in all very inconsistent.
<3 your logo.

Here's a 3-pack of GDM themes to go along with the wallpaper and OOo splash:
You can grab all 3 in one package right here:

I've updated the wallpapers at gnome-look.org... they are now available in 6 different colours and you can choose between normal and wide screen ratios:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ … tent=61920
I'll update the GDM package soon to accommodate the additional colours
