Sweet It would be nice with a clean install of my comp and this just gives me another reason
Could be fun to check out the new installer haven't reinstalled since the release of 0.71.
And maybe dump xfce and try fluxbox out
Anyway, great job guys!

are those torrents made from the old isos? i got the ftp x86 and the md5sum is different than the one i got from a repo earlier today. the repo had the latest ones.
edit just checked with the mirrors and at least the ftp x86 IS the old iso. please reupload all that fall under the same category asap

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

I'm rather new to Archlinux. I've been using it for about a month. Is there anything special I have to do to upgrade to the latest version? Thanks.

Should be "2007.08 Don't panic" IMO...

No, just carry out a
pacman -Syu
Cheers Sigi
Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch.

davemicc, if it hangs on this stage, just use DISABLEHOOKS=arch-addons on boot prompt as option, then it doesn't try to mount anything.

what exactly you mean by "Don't Panic ISOs" ?

Installation feedback:
I installed Arch in virtualbox on a Windows XP host and after it initially hung up on boot (enabling acpi and apic was necessary), everything worked fine.
I was very pleased to see the pacman mirror selection dialog, apart from a "missing" pacman -Sy (I wondered why I couldn't install xfce4...everything was set up perfectly and it took me a while until I realized, that the local package database only includes the current repository) there was no need for post-configuration for the base system. I haven't checked for rankmirrors this time, but
Setting up X and xfce4 was done quickly and I had no further problems.
I was using the FTP-install-image.
Edit: Stay away from Safari for windows, it will not send or copy text fields containing a '[' or ']', it just cuts away everything following this character.

Using emulators is always done on your own risk, i only test with real hardware and with no emulator.
Emulators tend to break from time to time and it's difficult to say why it's not working.

When booting the FTP install CD, right after it seems to be looking for /config and /package directories, the boot process freezes after printing the following two lines:
NTFS driver 2.1.28 [Flags: R/W MODULE].
NTFS volume version 3.1.I have tried the Duke ISO and it seems work (it continues booting after these lines and I get to the Bash shell).
I have a NTFS partition with Windows XP on it and also an EXT3 partition with Ubuntu installed that I am planning to reformat and install Arch on.
I have the same problem with a machine with a Windows XP NTFS partition.

Solution for this issue on boot prompt:
vmlinuz initrd=initrd.img disablehooks=arch-addons

i have a weird problem with the ftp iso. no matter which mirror i choose (tried 6 different ones already) it behaves like its throttled or something.
it connected to get package list after 5-10 mins & downloaded it with 0.14k/s. and on some mirrors its even worse. for pacman im still waiting... on the ones it got pacman (with similar speed like above) it failed to download the packages. im gonna try the duke cd i have later on, but im almost certain its gonna work...
anyone witnessed similar behaviour?
edit: in case someone was thinking about asking there is nothing wrong with my nic and it was set up properly
