gdm-binary[5951]

hi,

after last update and reboot i have this problem:

gdm-binary[5951]: WARNING: gdm_config_parse: Incapaz de encontrar o utilizador GDM 'gdm'. A abortar!

I start gnome using startx instead of daemon gdm.

Can anyone help me?

if you could please translate the errormessage into english, there would be more people that could probably help you.

I personally had the problem that gdm could not be started (it said something like : You X-command is wrong) so that i had to start with startx.

If you mean THIS problem, then a solution would be to remove and reinstall gdm.
If your problem is another: Sorry, i don't know!

Ok, first since I see the error message tells GDM has not been found, so it is not able to start and it aborts. But the question is those GNOME still starts and just give that warning? It looks like the same, harmless error everyone is getting, but I have just seen it in English so I can't tell, my mother language is Spanish, but I suck at it when technically speaking, I just hate Spanish OS setups.

in english it will be :

gdm_config_parse:enable to find user GDM 'gdm'. Aboting!

i creat user gdm and now the erro is:

gdm-binary[5533]: WARNING: gdm_server_spawn: Xserver not found: /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -audit 0 +extension XEVIE -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7

EDIT: Solution in http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 94#p291094. without any user gdm. the package gdm is "broken".
