Problem "ABS not found in core" :(

Hello all,

I've been using Arch without any problem for quite a while. Though Arch never gave me any problem (on the contrary smile) I wanted to try Gentoo. I did, no problems either but the fact is that I don't feel I can win *nothing* by using Gentoo (i686 binaries with O2 flags?! it's exactly the same in Arch and I dont have to compile!).

Anyway, and quiting the chit-chat, I was going to install Arch when I have a very, very annoying surprise, when I select the packages I want to install (ftp/http installation), and then, I do "install packages" it says, the first thing "ABS not found in core". I installed Arch several times, in different boxes and never had any problem... I tried with 2007.08, 2008.03 and 2008.04-rc CDs and the problem is exactly the same in every of them.

I can't do nothing, I tried many different mirrors besides my Portuguese usuals (Darkstar), I even used the official ftp.archlinux.org!

Any help is welcome smile

Does this stop you from installing?  ABS was moved to extra a little while ago - if you can still install without ABS, you can get it afterwards.

That's exactly the point, it's an error (as soon as I press Enter) and then I can't proceed with the installation sad. What I find a little bit odd is that nobody has complained about it -- at least according to my search in Google and in these boards).

I've forwarded this question to the dev mailing list, as I don't know much about the installer.  I'll try to keep you posted

Re: Problem "ABS not found in core" :(

This is actually solvable by _deselecting_ ABS from the packages to install in the installer.

We will address this ASAP.

Re: Problem "ABS not found in core" :(

Hallo, I am a new arch user trying to learn from it. I had the same "problem" today. on vc-5 it said that there was a kernel26>2.6.25 problem. I do not remember exactly as I simply deselected the package and continued installing. I did an FTP install of Archlinux-i686-2007.08-2.ftp.iso . Hope it was of any help.

Download a new ftp image, I had the same problem with the same (old) image.
I deselected abs and the installing is now running as I type this tongue
