I have been using dvtm for a while and I love it.
I use Ratpoison with fullscreen URxvt running dvtm in grid mode running:
mc | mc
-------------
htop | cmus
mc in most minimal state (with shell though) and horizontal panes.
htop in most minimal state (showing only processes) in tree mode.
Looks great right. Always an mc available when you're running something in the other one. dvtm has totally eliminated my need for tiling WM.

You seem to have missed the title of the thread. How can KDE be considered light ? Or any QT app for that matter...
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

QT apps aren't inherently heavy. Like Opera, which is quite a bit lighter than Firefox is Qt. No, Opera isn't a the lightest web browser out there by a long shot, but it's reasonably light. It just seems like almost all Qt apps are tied to KDE, or kdelibs. Somehow GTK+ cornered the market on the DE-independent programs area...
But KDE is absolutely not light, by any stretch of the imagination. KDEmod may not be considered that heavy, but it's still not light.
Stop looking at my signature. It betrays your nature.

I think GTK+ got the DE-independent thing thanks to XFCE
XFCE meant that GTK programs weren't generally tied to Gnome libs, so DE-independent people could use them without gnome libs.
On the LnF note, I'm liking PCMan File manager. Loads nice and quick.

pogeymanz, check out Sage. It's open source and I believe it will replace all the mathematical software (magma, mathematica, matlab, maple)

I'd use Abiword if it didn't have the annoying GNOME dependencies, and I'd use Dillo if it supported javascript.
