[SOLVED] Use ABS instead of Pacman, is it possible?

Hi, I would like to install the packages I could need by compiling them instead of using the packages already compiled. I know ABS can do that, but I'd like to use it instead of pacman, and dealing with dependencies as pacman does but compiling them from source instead of installing the packages already compiled.

Is it possible? If so... how?

Thank you very much for all your time and answers in advance.

There is a project named pacbuilder. Try to use the search function of the forum to find some threads, there are many.

Re: [SOLVED] Use ABS instead of Pacman, is it possible?

Thank you very much! It seems to be what I've looking for!

I'll try it and mark as solved.

EDIT: It's just what I needed, thank you very much.

Though at the time of writing the revision 132 is not fully working. The line 583 of the script must be uncommented in order to get the PKGBUILDs from ABS. The file is /usr/bin/pacbuilder (once installed).

2nd EDIT: I've made a new post for the thread to be marked as with new posts and people could see it.

There is another way to install from source for people who use the GUI Shaman: First you have to select the packages you would like to install, then use the option "Build and Install from Source" from the menu "Actions". It can install the dependencies from source it that's what you want.

Regards.
