phonon, amarok2 and backend

Standardly in arch phonon is built without gstreamer support, only with xine. Amarok2 is freezing (playing is freezing) after few minutes (maybe only I have this problem I don;t know, but even if only I have it is important (: ) When I edited a phonon's PKGBUILD (delete a -DWITH_GStreamer=OFF), built phonon, install it, change phonon backend to gstreamer, all is fine.
I think You mainteance phonon without gst because of dependencies, but maybe 'phonon-gstreamer' or something  like that is a good idea?

Re: phonon, amarok2 and backend

there are patches available: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180339

I built xine-lib with these two patches and don't have these annoying freezes anymore.
May be someone could add these to the official xine-lib package?

Re: phonon, amarok2 and backend

I replyed to this thread a few weeks ago, but unfortunately Pierre never answered to give any valid reason to not allow anyone to use gstreamer:

Re: phonon, amarok2 and backend

What I dont like in gstreamer(here in arch) is that gstreamer-plugins depends on some gnome things.
Since gstreamer is used by many applications outside of gnome, gnome-vfs and gconf should be optional.
