Does one logo appear for each prossesor? Cause i get 4 now.. Fortunately boot time has drastically decreased and i dont get to see them much
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Wait my logo appeared by default when I installed Arch with the stock kernel. How does one go about disabling this "frame boofeur". It seems as if you must compile your own kernel and set the framebuffer_comsole yourself.. no way to do it with the stock kernel with out recompiling eh?

You can boot without framebuffer - just omit the vga= parameter from your kernel line in grub.

Have a look at drivers/video/logo/ in the kernel source (logo_linux_clut224.ppm, logo_linux_mono.pbm and logo_linux_vga16.ppm). You just have to replace them with your own, in the right format and colordepth of course. Then just compile the kernel and voila.

wow i have to thank the thread digger..i can finally ask about the two logos because the explanation provided here does not tally with my system. I have met the following criteria:
* Dual-core
But not entirely the following:
* 2 logos
Because below 1024x768, there's only one.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

I actually like the logo, but it would be nice if I could get rid of one of them.

Hurrah for thread revival! Anyway, I say: framebuffer logo be gone! No need for arch to advertise itself during the boot sequence on my box, kthnx.

That's funny. I like the logo on boot.

I like the logo too, it reminds me what a shitty one core cpu I have

I think I was happier not knowing about the one-logo-per-core aspect...

how nice it would be to set logo1/cpu1, logo2/cpu2/, etc.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane I say.

How can I change the logo anyway?

You bumped TWO old threads on this topic, both much more than 2 years old. Don't do that, a repeat will see you banned.
