I was googling around a found this debian logo replacement for the gnome menu's icon and was wondering if there if someone has made an Arch icon replacement?
EDIT: This has been answered by arkham. See this post (#23 in this thread).

@thayer - that package is pretty cool, but I didn't see anything in there for the gnome menu

The artwork package contains both the standard Arch logo in various formats and archlinux-wm-gnome.svg in the wm-gnome directory. If that's not what you're after, could you explain what it is that you actually want?

/usr/share/archlinux/icons
You can copy the .svg to your current iconset folder, in places. Replace the default gnome-main-menu.svg, distributor-logo.svg, start-here.svg etc.
They might be a setting somewhere in gconf-editor to use a custom icon as well - but I don't recall.

I'm looking to replace the Gnome foot logo in the 'applications' menu w/ the Arch logo. Here is a screenshot of someone who did just this except using a Debian logo:

So why can't you use one of the Arch Linux icons provided by the artwork package?
Did you read proxima_centauri's reply above?

@xyne - I read the post, but I don't see where the current iconset folder is located. He said 'in places' but I'm not seeing it.

If you installed through appearance preferences it's in
/home/$USER/.icons
$USER = your user name
I meant the "places" folder inside your icon folder. It was a little unclear in my post. I assumed you knew where the .icons folder was.
Nepherte is also correct for iconsets already installed, or if you always install your icon themes to /usr/share/icons - go there instead. You'll need root privileges to copy the icon to folders in here.

I'm using hidroxygen icon theme and with ./change-type.sh script you can change gnome menu icon to Arch...

Something is screwy with mine:

Perhaps try a
locate gnome-main-menu.svg

@bernarcher - I did that and found:
/usr/share/icons/HighContrast-SVG/scalable/places/gnome-main-menu.svg
I replaced it (after creating a backup) with the arch one of my choice but didn't see a change after logoff/login

I had another play with it and after restarting gnome-panel it seemed to work. Not quite as expected though. Now I have an arch logo which is the Applications menu but the "Places" and "System" are missing altogether.
edit:
Ok so after changing the object_type from "menu_object" back to "menu_bar" the panel went back to normal without the Arch logo.

What iconset are you currently using? If you installed it, how?
Changing "/usr/share/icons/HighContrast-SVG/scalable/places/gnome-main-menu.svg" won't do a thing unless you are using the HighConstrast icon set.

@proxima_centauri - I'm using the 'gnome' icon set selected via the clearlooks theme.
$ locate gnome-main-menu.svg
/usr/share/icons/HighContrast-SVG/scalable/places/gnome-main-menu.svg
/usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/places/gnome-main-menu.svg
I copied over the arch icon and restarted gdm but still no change.
$ cd /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/places/

So it's a symlink to start-here.svg.
# cp start-here.svg start-here.svg-virgin
# cp /usr/share/archlinux/icons/archlinux-icon-tango-64.svg ./start-here.svg
I restarted GDM, logged in and no change.

See if this works
1) Save this png ->
2) Run as root
cd /usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/places
mv start-here.png start-here-old.png
mv NEW_ICON start-here.png
3) As user
pkill gnome-panel

@arkham - Worked great, thank you for spending the time to type it up for me! I updated the Gnome_Tips wiki article with your method. Here is a link to the procedure's section. Thanks again.
